Arch Enterprises Dedicates Peace Pole

Edmonton, AB – July 10, 2025 — In an event that brought together community members, stakeholders and advocates, Arch Enterprises proudly unveiled our Peace Pole, a powerful symbol of unity, peace, and inclusion.

The event was made possible by the generous support of Ivan Docker and his family. A long-time Arch Enterprises board member and Rotarian with the Rotary Club of Edmonton Strathcona (District 5370) Mr. Docker was thanked for gifting this Peace Pole and honored for his ongoing commitment to Arch Enterprises and the community it serves.

The Peace Pole, engraved with the message “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in English, French, Cree, and Braille, stands as a lasting monument to shared values. It is installed in a garden bed at Arch Enterprises, surrounded by plants and flowers grown in the organization’s social enterprise, Arch Greenhouses.

“This Peace Pole is more than just a symbol—it’s a daily reminder of our collective responsibility to promote inclusion, respect, and dignity,” said one Arch representative.

The ceremony began with a Land Acknowledgement and an inspiring opening blessing from Elder Phillip Campiou, whose words offered guidance and reflection as a pathway to peace. Other distinguished guests included the Honorable Christina Gray, (MLA Edmonton Millwoods) and City Councilor Keren Tang (Ward Karhiio), who also spoke eloquently about the importance of peace and inclusion in building stronger communities and the important role Arch Enterprises plays in this.

The dedication portion of our event was led by Past District Governor and Positive Peace Activator - North America / Caribbean Cohort, Ingrid Neitsch, and the outgoing Rotary District 5370 District Governor Brian Edwards, whose involvement underscored Rotary’s commitment to peace-building initiatives. Further messages were shared that reflected on the long standing relationship of Arch Enterprises and the Rotary Club of Edmonton South and Rotary Club of Edmonton Strathcona. Arch Enterprises is honored to have an ongoing legacy of support from both of those clubs.

Arch Enterprises, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting adults with developmental disabilities, sees the Peace Pole as an extension of its’ mission. “We create peace when we work to build a world founded on respect, equality, justice, and fairness,” was another message shared during the ceremony.

Following the dedication, guests were invited to enjoy refreshments and barbequed hot dogs while they visited, shopped in our greenhouse and enjoyed our curated art show and sale. The Peace of Mind Art Walk and Sale showcased 30 original pieces of work by artists supported by Arch Enterprises. A number of the artists along with their family members were present to speak about their work. All proceeds from the artwork sold go directly to the artists, emphasizing our commitment to individual empowerment and creative expression.

Arch Enterprises extends heartfelt thanks to all who attended and helped make the day a success. The Peace Pole now stands as a symbol of hope—celebrating diversity, inspiring dialogue, and reminding the community of the peaceful future we strive to build together.
